Waner Construction Company, Inc., was founded on January 19, 1996 and is Colorado owned and operated.  We take great pride in our quality construction and reputation within the industry. We are proud of its long list of accomplishments in its twenty-four years of existence. 

The company has a wide range of construction experience that includes retail, office, warehouse, medical, restaurant, as well as banks and credit unions.  Contract formats include design build, cost plus fee, guaranteed maximum price and stipulated sum.

In 1996 Tim Waner founded Waner Construction on a simple principle “Do the Right Thing”. Tim believed that you should treat your clients, staff, designers, and trade partners with respect and interact with them as professionals.  Twenty years later with over 1,000 projects completed and over a billion dollars of work in place, the principle of “Do the Right Thing” is still at the center of Waner Construction's corporate culture and philosophy.  

President, CEO, and Chairman

As President & CEO Curtis’s primary responsibility is to craft and implement the organizational vision that aligns with short and long term strategic plan that he and the board of directors set.  His day to day primary responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, and managing the overall corporate integration from operations, estimating, and administration.  

Curtis was raised in Arvada, CO. and has a bachelor of science in Construction Management from Colorado State University.  Curtis joined us in 1997 and has held the positions of Superintendent and Project Manager before succeeding Tim Waner as President, CEO and Chairman in 2011.  

Curtis views one of his primary roles to continue to instill and never lose sight of the principles and corporate culture that the organization was founded on over twenty years ago.

Chief Estimator, Vice President, Treasurer

In John’s role as Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer he collaborates with Curtis on the corporate vision and shares in the responsibility for its success.  As Chief Estimator John oversees and is responsible for our estimating services, from preconstruction through GMP and Hard Bid estimates.  

John was raised in Evergreen, CO and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines. He has been in the construction industry for over 35 years and joined Waner Construction at our inception in 1996.  John has held the position of Superintendent, Project Manager, and Chief Estimator/Vice President. With John’s extensive hands on field and operational experience he is uniquely qualified as a Chief Estimator with a broad skill set.  

Vice President / Operations Manager

Derek joined us in 2003 and has held the positions of Field Engineer, Superintendent and Project Manager before being promoted to Vice President and Operations Manager in 2015.  Derek’s primary role is to oversee the day to day activities of the operations and field staff. Derek is also responsible for overseeing the hiring of new operations staff, and managing our Corporate Safety Director and Storm Water Management Director. Derek has a bachelor of science in Construction Management from Colorado State University.    


Melynda joined Waner in 2011. She started in our Accounts Payable and worked her way through the administration department, through the process was groomed with the intention of taking on the role of Controller in 2016. Melynda’s primary responsibilities include the oversight of the administrative staff, financial operations of the company and production of financial statements and reports. Her past work experience includes construction accounting.


Melynda is a Colorado native and was raised in the Denver area. She has her bachelor of science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of Northern Colorado.
